The hospital grew over the years but not as quickly as the town was developing by 1930 it was becoming clear that the hospital was not able to cope with the ever growing and expanding town so the new General Hospital was built on Prittlewell Chase opening its doors on 27th July 1932, the patients being treated at the Victoria Hospital were transferred to the new site on 13th November 1932. After the closure of the hospital it became a clinic for services such as the School Nurse, dentist and a doctors. The building continued in its role as a clinic until it was demolished in the mid 1960's to make way for a car park for the swimming pool. April 1967: Work starts on new pool.
